My Moment to Moment

Every stinking motivational speaker tells us to live in the moment. I keep trying but I am not getting any better at it. In fact, in my old age I am getting worse. I remember a moment in my early 20's before I got married, I lived in a moment. It was awesome. I knew the woman who was going to become my wife liked me, a lot. At the end of a great date, you know the one where you both know that there is going to be a goodnight kiss, we both lingered. She leaned in, closed her eyes and went 80% in. I walked away, down the stairs and left her standing there. I knew she loved me, and I loved her. We were going to be married someday. I lived in that moment the entire 10 minutes I walked back to my apartment. However, after I had her all worked up and confused, she left the following weekend with her roommates to go watch some other guy run a marathon in Vegas. My roommates said walking away was the dumbest thing I could have done. Nope. I was right. She married me four months later.
However, unlike that moment I didn't do it well after that. I tried, but failed. I am four decades plus now and I can empathize with the lyrics...
I remember it passing, but the fool that I was couldn't see for the next ten years. Until I discovered like waking up from a dream.
I am not sure what I can do with the rest of my life. I have been the master and the flying trapeze, I have also been the broom. Is it to late? is it to late to remedy? Now that I am older, there is new meaning to the words "moment to moment, and every breath is a step to forever."
I have more breathes behind me than I do in front of me.

know a story, and if you lend me an ear and a halfway open-mind, you may discover something about yourself. I see you're distracted, you said the carnival-master had put him down to the broom I should have been pushing and he gently took me aside. And said; "Every task before you is a challenge to succeed." Oh, moment to moment, like every breath is a step to forever. Oh, moment to moment boy, and you don't give, give up, you don't give it up. I remember it passing, but the fool that I was couldn't see for the next ten years. Until I discovered like waking up from a dream. Instead of a master o'er the flying trapeze I was down here pushing a broom. And watching the actor's And I heard again his words. Saying;
"Every choice before you was a challenge to succeed." Oh, moment to moment, and every breath is a step to forever. Oh, moment to moment boy, and you don't give, give up, you don't give it up. You won't give up, give up, give up, give it up. Da-da-da-da-da-da; And it's too late, Is it too late to remedy? Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da; Will you teach me, will you teach me? "Every choice before you was a challenge to succeed." Oh, ohhh, oh, moment to moment, and every breath is a step to forever. Oh, moment to moment boy, and you don't give, give up, you don't give it up. You won't give up, give up, give up, give it up." Oh, moment to moment, and every breath is a step to forever. Oh, moment to moment boy, and you don't give, give up, you don't give it up. You won't give up, give up, give up, give it up, you don't give, give up, you don't give it up.
