A Bar, a Message, My Daughter & Screaming

You've read the story on the home page about my daughter's experience with Lacey Sturm (if you didn't go to the bottom section). Now you can see the actual concert, well at least a part of it.

A couple of things.

They are both standing up straight in the picture. My daughter is 5'5". Lacey is 4'11". I bring this up only because it explains why, in the video, it is hard to see Lacey even though we are less than 20 feet away. My daughter heard more of the concert than she saw.

Yes she screams. She has always been known to scream. She has been called the Scream Queen of Rock. But, she screams for a reason.

I will admit, I had a hard time with it at first. But not how you think. I loved it. I had a hard time because I loved it. Deep inside of me I loved it and I was scared because it didn't fit within my world view and upbringing.Later, when I embraced it, I found this video where she explains why and how she screams. I still love it It it some of my favorite parts of her songs.

One more thing, I still don't like guys who scream. I like Lacey's screams.

And now for the rest of the story...

When Lacey was talking to my daughter i was standing behind her. After I took the picture, Lacey looked at me sympathetically and said "Nice job dad." like she was letting me know that bringing my daughter to this show, although hard, was a good thing. She had no idea that I am a much bigger fan of her music than my daughter is. In fact, I had to talk my daughter into going to the concert with me.
